Reading bands and badges
On the portal every ranking figure is shown as a badge (chip) with both a colour and a label. Colour never carries the meaning on its own — the label is always present. This page explains each scale exactly as the portal uses it.
SJR quartile (SCImago)
SCImago ranks journals in four quartiles Q1 to Q4 by the SJR indicator. Q1 is the best (top quarter), Q4 the weakest. The quartile always applies within one field (FORD).
Percentile
The percentile states what share of journals in the comparison pool have a worse value. Values 0–100 are shown by the portal as a bar with the value marked; the higher, the better the standing in the field.
Decile
A decile splits the comparison pool into tenths. The portal shows deciles 1–5, which cover the top half; decile 1 is the best (top 10 %). Deciles above 5 are not shown as a ranking.
Band (AIS)
The band by AIS (Article Influence Score) comes from Web of Science data (Clarivate) and is available only on the institutional tier. It uses the same ladder as the deciles (D1, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4), so the badge colours match. It is a band computed from AIS data, not a claim of national origin.
Not ranked
A grey badge means the journal has no ranking in the given field and edition — either it is not in the comparison pool, or no band applies to it.
Order of steps from best to weakest: D1, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4.
